# Your first camp

A gang's first minutes in CAS Advanced Gang System: open the creator, pitch the leader's tent, set down the camp, open the ledger and invite riders.

A short run through a gang's first minutes. Every step is covered in full under [Playing](/script-documentation/cas-advanced-gang/playing/the-ledger.md).

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the gang creator

Type `/creategang`. Fill in the charter:

* a **name**, 3 to 24 characters,
* a **tag**, 2 to 8 letters or digits,
* a **motto**, if you want one.

The creator shows the founding fee, how far the nearest camp is, and the structures the new camp will need.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Pitch the leader's tent

The view lifts overhead and you're handed the **leader's tent**. Wherever you set it down becomes the centre of the camp, and every later structure is measured from it. The tent must go down within 20 m of where you stand, and the camp must be at least 300 m from any other camp.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set down the rest

The tool hands you the ledger table, then the campfire. You can leave with **ESC** at any point. What's still owed stays marked, and you can set it down later.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open the ledger

When the last piece is down, the ledger opens. From then on, hold **E** at the ledger table, or type `/camp` anywhere.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Invite your riders

On the **Roster** tab, invite a player by character name or server id. They get a dialog to accept or decline, and can answer later with `/camp`.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

The numbers above are the defaults. Your server may have changed them.
