# Members and ranks

Invite riders, set ranks, promote, demote, kick, hand the gang over, leave or disband a gang in CAS Advanced Gang System.

## Inviting a rider

On the **Roster** tab, type a player's **character name** or **server id** and press **Send**. The server checks that:

* your rank has `invite`,
* the roster has room (each tier sets its size),
* the player is on the server and rides with no gang,
* they don't already hold an open invitation from your gang.

The player gets a dialog to accept or decline. If they close it, `/camp` opens it again. If they log off, the invitation is waiting when they return.

Invitations lapse after `Config.InviteHours` (48 hours, `0` = never). A lapsed one shows as *Lapsed* on the roster and can be cleared there. **Revoke** withdraws one that is still open.

## The default ranks

`order` 1 is the top.

| Rank | Order | Stash per day | Treasury per day |
| ---------- | ----- | ------------- | ------------------ |
| Leader | 1 | No limit | No limit |
| Right Hand | 2 | 60 | $500 |
| Enforcer | 3 | 40 | $150 |
| Rider | 4 | 25 | Can't draw |
| Recruit | 5 | 8 | Can't draw or view |

New members join as Recruit (`Config.DefaultRank`). Each gang has its own copy of the ranks and changes permissions and limits on the **Ranks** tab. The switches are listed in [Ranks and permissions](/script-documentation/cas-advanced-gang/configuration/ranks.md#permission-keys).

The server holds every gang to these rules:

* You only change ranks **below** your own, and only move riders who are below you to ranks below yours.
* You can't grant a permission your own rank doesn't have.
* A rank can't be given a wider allowance than the rank setting it. The server lowers it.
* `disband` belongs to the top rank and can't be granted.

## Promoting and demoting

With `promote`, **Promote** and **Demote** on the roster move a rider one rank up or down, within the rules above.

## Kicking

With `kick`, you can remove a rider whose rank is below yours. The money they paid into the treasury is handled by `Config.OnKick`:

| Value | Result |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `'forfeit'` | The gang keeps it. |
| `'refund'` | It's paid back as far as the treasury covers, and written into the ledger. The rider must be on the server, and the camp must owe no upkeep. Otherwise the gang keeps it and whoever kicked them is told. |

A kicked rider's open treasury requests go with them.

## Handing the gang over

The leader can hand the gang to a rider of the rank directly below (the Right Hand by default). The two swap ranks and the record notes it. The old leader is then free to leave.

## Leaving

Any member but the leader can leave from the ledger. The leader hands the gang over or disbands it first.

## Disbanding

Only the top rank can disband. The confirmation names what is lost: **the treasury and everything in the wagon, stored guns included.** Members, ranks, ledger, record, structures, invitations and open requests all go with the camp. It's removed from the database in one transaction, and every member on the server is told.

Disbanding can't be undone.
