# Using the satchel

Player guide for CAS Advanced Inventory on RedM. Controls, the two looks, moving items, the hotbar, the pocket, ground drops, item actions and the settings.

A guide you can share with your players.

## Opening and closing

* **I** opens the satchel. **TAB** or **ESC** closes it.
* **F1** opens the settings: the look, the hotbar, item details, interface size, sounds, walking and panel positions.
* You can walk while it is open (unless you switch it off in the settings).

## The two looks

* **Outlaw Poster:** a red header with your cash, gold and carry weight and a small WANTED poster with your portrait (your Steam avatar), the outfit as a list of red rings, and meters for weight, hunger and thirst under a painted rider.
* **Minimal:** the game's own menu look, ink-wash sheets and ink-stamped slots. Your character stays in the middle of the screen.

Pick one in the settings (F1). The server can lock the look.

## Moving items

| Do this | And this happens |
| ------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Drag a stack | Moves it. Between two inventories a card asks how many |
| SHIFT + drag | Moves the whole stack |
| CTRL + drag | Moves one |
| ALT + drag | Moves half |
| Drop on a matching stack | Joins them |
| Drop one item on another | Combines them when a combination exists ([Crafting and containers](/script-documentation/cas-advanced-inventory/crafting.md)) |
| Right click | The action menu: use, equip, inspect, give, split, drop, take, store |

With the mouse over an item the keys work too: **E** use or equip, **G** give, **T** take or store, **S** split, **X** drop, **L** lock or unlock the stack, **1 to 5** put it on the hotbar. All keys are on [Keys and commands](/script-documentation/cas-advanced-inventory/keys-and-commands.md).

A **locked** stack cannot be given, dropped or moved out of the satchel by accident.

## Finding things

* The **category tabs** filter the satchel (weapons, ammo, food, remedies, tools, valuables, misc).
* The **magnifier** opens the search box; only matching items stay visible. Press it again to close and clear.
* The **sort** button tidies the satchel.

## The hotbar

* Drag an item from the satchel onto one of the five hotbar slots, or hover it and press 1 to 5.
* With the satchel closed, **hold ALT** to see the hotbar at the bottom of the screen and press **1 to 5** to use or draw the item.
* With the satchel open, the hotbar stands beside it. Right click a slot to empty it.

## Money and gold

Click your cash or your gold in the header. A small card opens: pick CASH or GOLD, type the amount (or ALL), then **GIVE** it to a rider near you or **DROP** it on the ground as a bundle. Anyone can pick a bundle up from the ground card; it goes straight into their money, once.

## The gunbelt

Your ammunition lives in the gunbelt, not in the satchel. While no item is under the mouse, the item detail area shows the **GUNBELT**: each ammo type with how many rounds you carry. Hover a weapon to see how many rounds for it are **in the belt**. Ammo boxes from your server fill the belt when you use them.

## The pocket

Two small slots under the outfit, for light items (up to 1 kg each by default). **The pocket is kept when you die.**

## The outfit

Click a piece to take it off or put it back on. Pieces you do not own show as none. See [Outfit](/script-documentation/cas-advanced-inventory/outfit.md).

## The ground

* Drag an item onto **Drag here to drop it** on the ground card (or use X). A sack, box or chest appears depending on the weight.
* Near a drop, press **G** to open the satchel with the ground panel. **TAKE ALL** picks everything up.
* Untouched drops are cleaned up after a while.

## Stashes, saddlebags and shops

Chests, saddlebags and shops from other scripts open on the right. Drag items across, or use **STORE ALL** and **TAKE ALL**. The panel shows the last changes (who stored or took what); some stashes are used by one rider at a time and show who has access. A long stash shows five rows and scrolls the rest.

## Pouches and boxes

Some items hold items of their own (a small satchel, a large bag, a lockbox). Use them to open a small card next to the satchel and drag things in.

## Weapons

Right click a gun and choose **INSPECT**: your rider holds the gun up and the weapon screen opens next to the satchel, with the gun's own 3D model (drag to turn it, wheel to zoom), its parts, how it shoots, upkeep and history. The keys show at the bottom: **V** view, **Z** zoom, **E** aim, **R** clean with gun oil, **SPACE** flip a long gun, **H** hide the panels, **U** unload, **F** put it away. More on [Weapons](/script-documentation/cas-advanced-inventory/weapons.md).

**Parts:** drag a scope, sight, barrel, grip, stock or forend from your satchel onto its slot (or onto the gun) to fit it; while you drag, the screen shows what it changes. Right click a fitted part to take it off into your satchel. Factory parts stay on; paint, engraving, rifling and wraps are done at a gunsmith.

## Panels

Grab any panel by its header and drag it where you like. The positions are kept, and a panel always stays whole on the screen (also after a resolution or interface size change). **Settings > Panel positions > Put back** returns everything to its place.

## Give, trade, search and crafting

* **Give:** right click an item, **GIVE**, pick a rider near you. They have a few seconds to accept.
* **Trade:** `/trade` near another rider opens the trade window for both of you.
* **Search:** `/search` near a rider with their hands up, hogtied, cuffed or down.
* **Crafting:** the hammer next to the sort button, or `/craft`.

Details in [Give, trade and search](/script-documentation/cas-advanced-inventory/give-trade-search.md) and [Crafting and containers](/script-documentation/cas-advanced-inventory/crafting.md). Your server may use other command names.
