# Commands

Every CAS Chat V2 command — roleplay channels (/me /do /try), whisper and shout, OOC, private letters (/pm /r), staff moderation commands, autocomplete and the console.

## Chat commands

These work in the chat window and in the F8 console.

| Command               | Aliases           | What it does                                   |

| `/me`                 |                   | Describe what your character does              |
| `/do`                 |                   | Describe the scene or an outcome               |
| `/try`                |                   | Attempt something, the server rolls the result |
| `/w` | `/whisper` | Speak quietly to whoever is right next to you |
| `/s`                  | `/shout`          | Shout, shown in capitals                       |
| `/ooc`                | `/o`              | Out of character, server wide                  |
| `/looc`               | `/b`              | Out of character, local only                   |
| `/job`                | `/j`              | Your job's channel                             |
| `/staff`              | `/sc`             | Staff channel, staff only                      |
| `/pm <id> <message>`  | `/letter`, `/msg` | Send a private letter                          |
| `/r <message>`        | `/reply`          | Reply to the last letter you received          |
| `/announce <message>` |                   | Server announcement, staff only                |

Plain text with no slash goes to the channel picked in the input bar. Say is the default. Players can change it from the button on the left of the input, or by switching tabs.

If another chat resource on your server already registers these names, set `Config.RegisterCommands = false` in `config.lua`. When two resources register the same command, which one wins is not defined.

## Interface commands

These are handled inside the chat window and are not available from the F8 console.

| Command                         | What it does                                       |
| ------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| `/help`                         | List every command                                 |
| `/settings`                     | Open the settings panel                            |
| `/clear` | Clear your own chat window only |
| `/block <id>`                   | Hide a player's messages and stop their letters    |
| `/unblock <id>`                 | Remove a player from your block list               |
| `/ignore <id>`                  | Hide a player's chat for you, letters still arrive |
| `/unignore <id>`                | Show that player's chat again                      |
| `/mute <id> [minutes] [reason]` | Mute a player, staff only, 0 minutes is permanent  |
| `/unmute <id>`                  | Lift a mute, staff only                            |
| `/clearall` | Clear chat for every player, staff only |

`/mute` with no minutes opens the mute dialog with duration and reason presets.

## Utility commands

| Command      | What it does                                            |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/rpchat`    | Open the chat, same as pressing T                       |
| `/rpchat_id` | Show your own identifiers, for adding to `Config.Staff` |

## Autocomplete

Type `/` in the chat to browse every command with a description, including commands registered by your other resources. Type `@` to pick a player and insert a mention. Tab completes, the arrow keys move through the list, and the up arrow on an empty input recalls what you sent before.

## Console

`/announce` also works from the server console and from txAdmin:

```
announce Server restart in 15 minutes
```
