# Player settings

What players can customize in CAS Chat V2 — display, the floating feed and timestamps, sounds, per-channel visibility and privacy. Saved on their own machine, live and per player.

Players open this with the **Settings** button in the chat header or with `/settings`. Everything applies live and is saved on their own machine, so it survives a reconnect. Nothing is stored on the server.

## Display

| Setting | What it does |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Chat scale | Size of the whole chat window and floating feed |
| Font size | Message text size |

| Background opacity | How solid the window is |
| Dim the game behind | Darkens the world slightly while chat is open, can be turned off |
| Compact mode | Tighter lines with no channel labels or tags |
| Show server IDs | Adds the ID after every name |
| Job tags in RP | Show job tags on in character lines too |

## Feed and time

The floating feed is what stays on screen while the chat is closed.

| Setting | What it does |
| ------------------ | -------------------------------------- |
| Visible messages | How many lines stay on screen, 3 to 20 |
| Fade delay | How long a line stays before fading |
| Never fade | Keep the last lines up permanently |
| Highlight mentions | Mark lines that mention you and notify |
| Show timestamps | Time next to every message |
| 24 hour clock | Off shows 6:42pm |
| Show seconds | Adds seconds to the timestamp |

## Sound

Master toggle, volume, and a separate switch for each cue: when someone mentions you, when a letter arrives, when an announcement is sent, and for every message. Each cue can be tested from the panel.

## Channels

A visibility switch per channel: Roleplay, Global OOC, Local OOC, Private letters, Job, Staff and System.

Turning a channel off filters it out of the All tab and the floating feed. The channel keeps its own tab either way, so nothing is ever lost.

## Privacy

The block and ignore lists, with a way to add a player by server ID and remove anyone with one click.

## Reset

The Reset settings button in the footer puts everything back to default. Block and mute lists are kept.
