# Gameplay

How CAS Advanced Roulette System plays in RedM: joining a table, the controls, the HUD, every American bet with its payout, and a round from betting to the payout.

[Back to the guide](/script-documentation/cas-roulette/cas-advanced-roulette-system.md)

## Joining a table

Walk up to a free place at a table and **hold E** ("Join the Table"). The prompt group shows the table's minimum and maximum. Your character walks to the rail, faces the table and leans on it, and the camera goes over the felt. A full table shows "Table Full".

Each table has six places. Every place has its own chip colour, so everyone can tell whose chips are whose.

## Controls

| Action | Keyboard / mouse |
| ------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| Move the cursor between bet spots | the mouse, W A S D or the arrow keys |
| Chip value (the next chip you place) | mouse wheel, `+` / `-` |
| Place a chip | left click or Enter |
| Take your stack back from a spot | right click or Space |
| Clear all your bets | Tab |
| Switch between the felt and the wheel | V |
| Leave the table | hold Backspace (1 second) |

The controls are Rockstar's own minigame controls, so they follow each player's key bindings and the prompts at the bottom right show the keys that player has bound. A ghost chip in your colour shows where the next chip lands.

## The HUD

The HUD sits around the edges of the screen and never covers the number grid.

The minimap is hidden while you sit at a table and comes back when you leave (`Config.HideRadar`). The HUD keeps its proportions on every screen from 720p to 5K, also on 16:10, 21:9 and 32:9.

## Bet types and payouts

The wheel is Rockstar's double-zero wheel, so the rules are American: 38 pockets, 0 and 00.

| Bet | Numbers | Pays | Where on the felt |

| Six line | 6 | 5 to 1 | the outer line between two streets |
| Column | 12 | 2 to 1 | the "2 to 1" boxes |
| Dozen | 12 | 2 to 1 | 1st 12, 2nd 12, 3rd 12 |
| Red / Black, Odd / Even, 1 to 18 / 19 to 36 | 18 | 1 to 1 | the outside boxes |

"Pays 35 to 1" means you get your chip back plus 35 times its value. The house edge is the one of a real American wheel: 5.26 % on every bet and 7.89 % on the top line.

A server can set a higher house edge (`HouseEdge` in `config/server.lua`, see [Configuration](/script-documentation/cas-roulette/configuration.md)). Every winning bet then pays a little less, for example 33.2 to 1 on a number at 10 %. The HUD shows the payout of the spot under your cursor as the server really pays it. The ball itself is never steered: every pocket is equally likely.

Rockstar's wheel texture has one mistake: the pocket that is 16 by its place, colour and the felt shows "18" on the wheel (two 18s, no 16). The game treats it as 16.

## A round

1. **Betting.** Bets are open for 30 seconds (`Config.Pace.betting`); the fuse in the HUD burns down. A chip is paid for the moment it lands on the felt.
2. **No more bets.** The layout croupier waves the table off.
3. **The spin.** The camera turns to the wheel. The wheel croupier takes the ball from its pocket and flicks it onto the turning wheel. It runs on the track, slows down, spirals in, hops over the frets and settles in the pocket the server drew.
4. **The result.** The camera comes back to the felt and the layout croupier sets the marker on the winning number.
5. **The payout.** He rakes in the losing chips and pays every winning bet next to it. You reach for your winnings and the HUD shows what you were paid.
6. **The next round.** Betting opens again and the croupier takes the marker back. With nobody at the table, it waits for players.

The server waits for every seated player's game to show each step (the spin, the result, the payout) before it moves on, so the table never runs ahead of the animation. If a player's game does not answer, the server's own timers take over.

## Sounds

The game has no roulette sounds, so the table has its own. The ball rolls on the track and its sound slows down with it, clicks over the frets as it spirals in, bounces on the pocket walls and drops into its pocket. Every chip you place or take back clicks on the felt, the rake sweeps the losing chips in and the croupier's payout rattles. Everyone near the table hears it, quieter the farther away they stand. Server owners set the volumes in `Config.Audio` (see [Configuration](/script-documentation/cas-roulette/configuration.md#table-sounds)).
