# The artist job

The tattoo artist job in CAS Advanced Tattoo System for RedM: go on duty, choose for the customer, name the price, send the offer and keep a steady hand.

Players with one of the jobs in `Config.ArtistJobs` work as tattoo artists. A parlour can also be kept to one job (`job` in `config/parlours.lua`).

1. At the parlour hold **G** (Go on Duty). Hold it again to go off duty.
2. When someone sits down on the stool: press **E** (Tattoo the Customer) or **H** (Remove a Tattoo).
3. The flash book opens for you, with the customer's name at the top. Choose the design and the spot. The customer sees the stencil on their own skin while you choose.
4. Set your price with **-** and **+**, inside `Config.ArtistPriceRange` of the book price (0.5 = half, 2.0 = double), and send the **Offer**.
5. The customer accepts or declines. On accept the money is taken and you walk to the spot with the 1891 tattoo machine in your hand.
6. Hold the **left mouse button** to ink. When the customer winces, let go until the hint clears, or the needle slips and the work takes longer (`Config.Minigame`).
7. You are paid `Config.ArtistShare` of the price when the work is done. The rest leaves the economy as the parlour's cut.

While an artist is on duty at a parlour, its customers do not buy from the house. An artist cannot tattoo themselves.

## The steady hand

| Option | Default | What |
| ------------- | ------- | --------------------------------- |
| `enabled` | true | false = the needle runs by itself |
| `slipSeconds` | 3 | seconds added for every slip |
| `flinchEvery` | 6 to 11 | seconds between winces |
| `reactWindow` | 900 | ms to ease off after a wince |

## The house

When no player artist is on duty (`Config.NpcArtist`), the seated customer buys straight from the book at the house price. By default there is no house ped: the needle runs for `Config.HouseSeconds` and the ink fades in with the camera on the spot. With `Config.HousePed = true` a house artist waits by the cart, walks over and does the work with Rockstar's drawing clips, then wipes the fresh tattoo down.
