# FAQ

Quick answers about the RedM Wedding & Marriage System: same-sex couples, prices, multiple venues, time zones, languages, witnesses and editing the interface.

### Can any two characters marry?

Yes. Any two characters can get engaged and marry. The register writes *Bride* for a woman, *Groom* for a man and *Spouse* otherwise. The embrace after a proposal needs one male and one female character. Other couples skip it and are engaged all the same.

### Can a character be married to more than one person?

No. A character can be engaged or married to one other character at a time.

### Does it work on RSG Core?

Yes, on VORP Core and RSG Core, detected automatically. See [VORP and RSG Core](/script-documentation/cas-wedding/frameworks.md).

### Is there SQL to import?

Only the item rows for VORP (`install/vorp_items.sql`). The five tables create themselves. On RSG, paste the items into `rsg-core/shared/items.lua`.

### Where do players get rings?

The script does not sell them. Add `ring_diamond`, `ring_gold`, `ring_platinum` and `ring_chain` to a shop on your server, such as a jeweller.

### How much does a wedding cost by default?

|                                         |                |
| --------------------------------------- | -------------- |
| Ceremony booking (venue + registry fee) | $115           |
| Invitations                             | $0.30 per copy |
| Certificate copies                      | $2 each        |
| Divorce filing fee                      | $45            |

Every price is in `config.lua`.

### Do both partners need to be online to book?

No. Either partner can book on their own. Both must be at the altar for the ceremony.

### Are guests required?

No. With the default `Config.Ceremony.Witnesses = 0`, the couple and the NPC officiant are enough. Set it to `1` or `2` to require witnesses.

### Can a player be the priest?

Yes, if their job is in `Config.Ceremony.PlayerOfficiantJobs` (`priest`, `preacher`, `judge` by default). Otherwise the venue's NPC officiant marries the couple.

### Can I add more venues?

Yes. Add an office to `Config.Offices` with its own clerk, altar and officiant. The decorated Mayor's Garden is one venue. Other venues use the map as it is. See [Adding an office](/script-documentation/cas-wedding/configuration.md#adding-an-office).

### Can I move the decorated venue?

Yes, with `Config.Venue.AnchorOverride` and `Config.Venue.Heading`. Move the altar and the officiant in `Config.Offices` with it. See [Moving the venue](/script-documentation/cas-wedding/venue.md#moving-the-venue).

### My players are in different countries. Which time do they see?

Their own. Ceremony hours are set in server time and each player sees them converted to their computer's clock. See [Time and Time Zones](/script-documentation/cas-wedding/time-zones.md).

### Why does the certificate say 1899?

`Config.DisplayYear = 1899` makes documents read like the period. Set it to `nil` for the real year.

### Can I translate it?

Yes. Copy `locales/en.lua`, translate it and set `Config.Locale`. The interface uses the same file. See [Languages and Translation](/script-documentation/cas-wedding/languages.md).

### Can I film a wedding with a full crowd?

Yes. `/wedding_crowd all` fills the venue with NPC guests, `/wedding_clap` makes them applaud and `/wedding_confetti all` fires confetti, fireworks and applause. See [The Wedding Venue](/script-documentation/cas-wedding/venue.md).

### What happens to a marriage after a divorce?

It stays in the records as dissolved, and its certificate is marked *Dissolved by decree of the court*. Both characters are single and can marry again after 7 days.

### Can I change the interface?

The interface is a React app. Its source is in `web/`, and the built files the game loads are in `web/dist`. To change it you need Node.js:

```bash
cd web
npm install
npm run build
```

If your system sets `NODE_ENV=development`, set it to `production` for the build, or the result is a larger, slower development build. Keep a copy of your changes before updating the script.
